Using the Document Display Page

The document display page provides you with extended citation information and the complete text of the entry, along with any associated graphics, links to headings within the article, reproduced sidebar information, and/or links to external Web sites, where present. For entries spanning more than one page, use your browser's scroll bar to view the full document. You may see your search terms highlighted wherever they appear within the document, depending on the type of search used and your session preferences.

Below the Reference tab name you'll find the current document's position in your results list or Marked Items list. For example, if 84 documents were found and you are currently viewing the sixth one, the system will display: "Article 6 of 84." The arrow icons on either side (repeated at the bottom of each page) let you go forward or backward one document at a time or you can enter a document position number and click Go to jump to that document.

To the left of the document positioning controls, you'll see a Mark box. Click on the box to add the document to your Marked Items list (a document that you have added to your Marked Items list will show a check mark in the checkbox). You can also save the document for future retrieval by clicking the InfoMark icon on the toolbar.

Above the text of the entry, you'll find Document links offering useful features designed to facilitate your research, such as your retrieval choices. eBook links allow you to navigate the work itself, and Library links (if enabled) let you link to third-party resources where you'll find additional ways to search for the work and related documents. Click a "Related Topics" link below to find out more.

For certain eBooks, you will find a hyperlinked publisher logo on the copyright line which will link you to the publisher's Web site.

Within the text of the article you'll find to the right the page number corresponding to how the article appeared in print (if available). Next to the page number is a Top of Article link for easy navigation back to the beginning of the document. In some eBooks, pagination is not used; rather you link to different entries using the entry's name or heading.

Images embedded within the article may have a View PDF link. Clicking this link will display the original print page that contains the image. If the original article contained a sidebar (notes in a margin), the sidebar material is reproduced within the eBook article in a section labeled "Sidebar" and highlighted in a contrasting color. Click the Hide link to shrink the sidebar (click Show to display it again).

Often you will find links to other, related documents from the same eBook.

Use the breadcrumb trail to return to your results list or the search page where you can revise your search. You can also click the Results link under the tab name to return to your results page. Note that these links do not appear when you are displaying a document from your Marked Items list or via an InfoMark link.
