Go to the list of all eDirectories.

Section 1: Scope

Publishers Directory (PD) contains contact and descriptive information on over 20,000 publishers and distributors. Also included within the listings are imprints, affiliates, and former names of organizaitons, as well as the names of thousands of defunct presses and former listees, with appropriate status notes.

The organizations profiled in PD represent a broad spectrum of interests, including:

From miniature books and fine press editions to CD-ROMs and databases, the output of these publishers is as varied as the organizations themselves. (Only vanity presses are excluded from PD.)

Section 2: Method of Compilation

For this edition of PD, organizations previously listed were contacted via e-mail to update their listings. Those not responding were verified through research and the Internet. This process resulted in thousands of changes to organization names, addresses, and other key details. In addition, new entries describe organizations not previously listed in PD, including publishers of electronic products such as CD-ROMs and databases. These entries were prepared from questionnaires and other information supplied by the publishers.

Section 3: What You'll Find in a PD Entry and Searchable Fields

Publishers Directory (PD) provides detailed information on publishers and distributors. The main method used to store entries is by the name of the organization; however, there many ways to find entries, including by Keyword, or by some other specific field of data using Advanced Search (refer to the Corresponding Advanced Search Index(es) column in the table below).

When you search for entries, your search results will show the main fields of data, enough to give you a brief view of the entry. The full entry can be viewed on the entry display page by selecting the entry name from your results list.

Tip: The table below lists the kinds of information you will find in the entries in this eDirectory. Note that not all fields are present in every entry.

The Corresponding Advanced Search Index(es) column lists which Advanced Search index to use to search that field.

Note that there are two tables listed below: one for publisher listings and the other for distributor listings.
