Since 1956 the Encyclopedia of Associations has provided comprehensive information on national organizations headquartered in the United States. International Organizations (IO) extends the geographic scope of the Encyclopedia of Associations series by providing contact information and descriptions for multinational, binational organizations and national groups based throughout the world, as well as multinational assocations headquartered in the U.S.
The remainder of this page is divided into the following sections:
Go to the list of all eDirectories.
International Organizations covers more than 32,000 multinational and national membership organizations from more than 200 countries from Afghanistan to Zimbabwe - including U.S.-based organizations with a binational or multinational membership. Entries provide the names of directors, executive officers or other personal contacts; telephone, fax, telex, electronic mail, websites and bulletin boards; the group's history, governance, staff, membership, budget and affiliations; the goals and activities of the international organization, including research, awards, certification, education, lobbying and other important activities; and publication and convention information.
International Organizations includes more than 31,000 electronic mail addresses and more than 30,000 web sites for more effective communication. Also featured are more than 3,100 affiliate organizations at the regional, national, and international level to provide additional information and increase networking opportunities.
The entries in International Organizations were compiled from information collected by independent researchers and from completed questionnaires and printed materials provided directly by associations. Considerable efforts are made to contact organizations that do not submit updated material.
In harmony with recent changes implemented by the UK Royal Mail Postal Authority, all listings for organizations in England, Northern Ireland, Scotland, and Wales feature appropriate United Kingdom addresses and postal codes, and appear in the Geographic Index as United Kingdom associations.
Encyclopedia of Associations: International Organizations (IO) covers multinational and national membership organizations from Afghanistan to Zimbabwe, including U.S.-based organizations with a bi-national or multinational membership. The main method used to store entries is by organization name; however, there many ways to find entries, including by Keyword, or by some other specific field of data using Advanced Search (refer to the Corresponding Advanced Search Index(es) column in the table below).
When you search for entries, your search results will show the main fields of data, enough to give you a brief view of the organization profiled. The full entry can be viewed on the entry display page by selecting the entry name from your results list.
