Brands and Their Companies (BTC)

Brands and Their Companies (BTC) lists manufacturers and distributors from small businesses to large corporations, from both the public and private sectors, offering complete coverage of U.S. consumer brands; manufacturers, importers and distributors; and companies that are out of business as well as brands that are no longer in production or are now considered generic.

The remainder of this page is divided into the following sections:

Section 1: Scope

The vast number of consumer products available today often makes it very difficult to find information about U.S. brands and tradenames, particularly those not registered with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (PTO). Brands and Their Companies (BTC) responds to this need, providing current, accurate and easily accessible tradename information. BTC provides the answers to questions such as which company manufactures brand "X", whether a U.S. company imports a product that is manufactured overseas, and which products are marketed by a specific company.

Used by business owners, lawyers, students and others, BTC is the primary source for consumer brand information. When users need to know if a tradename is currently in use and by whom, BTC is the perfect starting point for their search. BTC is unique among sources in that it contains many tradenames that are not registered with the PTO, or which are no longer in production, making it extremely difficult to find information on them elsewhere.

Section 2: Method of Compilation

The entries in BTC were compiled from company literature, the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office information, and trade journals. Our extensive revision process ensures the accuracy and timeliness of this information, and provides comprehensive coverage of consumer products. The BTC staff makes every attempt to stay abreast of current market trends so that each edition will include the latest products and offer extensive coverage of swiftly developing industries, such as computer software and health care. BTC contains the obvious and the elusive—from apparel to zithers, and everything in between.

Section 3: What You'll Find in an BTC Entry and Searchable Fields

The main method used to store entries is by brand name; however, there many ways to find entries, including by Keyword, or by some other specific field of data using Advanced Search (refer to the Corresponding Advanced Search Index(es) column in the table below).
